Born from the Need to Pause
Once upon a time, after an especially stressful period, I became chronically sick for over nine months. When I opened up to friends, I realised I wasn’t alone—many were feeling the same overwhelm in different ways. This wasn’t just me. I wondered if there was a way to help. I discovered that when people feel overwhelmed, instead of turning outward—seeing friends in person or taking a long walk—they retreat into their devices. And we all know how that feels.
And so Kōse was born. Rooted in the Norwegian concept of koselig, we embrace the joy found in life’s simple pleasures. A great book, journaling with a coffee from one of Melbourne’s best brewers, or wrapping up in a soft throw brings a deep sense of calm and delight when experienced with intention.
Each Kōse collection is designed to encourage restoration. Books invite focus in a way digital content does not, offering a chance to step outside our own world and into another’s. Thoughtfully curated with timeless products such as handcrafted ceramics, soft linens, and indulgent treats, Kōse elevates the everyday and helps you pause, reset, and rediscover the beauty in slowing down.

Restoring Yourself, Uplifting Others
As literacy and education in young children is so important to us for all children, we wanted to partner with an organisation that helps disadvantaged children who don’t have access to safe education and donate some of our profits every year to change that. 250 million children are failing to acquire basic literacy skills, and in underprivileged communities, an education is the key factor in overcoming this and living a comfortable life for the next generation.
We went through a process of evaluating which charity best aligns with our goals and is ranked highly by independent evaluators for financial health, accountability and transparency and found a charity that does this remarkably, Save the Children.
We are very happy to partner with them and will be reporting to our Kōse community annually on the impact that you have helped contribute to.
